Coker's McElveen Jr. Named to AstroTurf SAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- Coker College track and field runner Tony McElveen Jr. was named AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, the league office announced today. This is McElveen Jr.'s second time being awarded the honor this season. 

McElveen Jr., a junior from Florence, S.C., led the way for the Cobras at the JDL College Dual Meet Madness on Sunday (Jan. 28) with two second place finishes in the men's 60-meter dash and 200-meter race, while setting new program records. McElveen Jr. pushed hard and secured a new Cobra school record in the 60-meter race with a time of 6.92 seconds.

The Navy and Gold runner also competed in the 200-meter event, placing second, running a time of 22.51, landing another top Coker mark.

He is the son of Vestina and Tony McElveen. He is an exercise science major.
