Coker's Mullins and Chebii Set New Records at the Wake Forest Open

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- On Saturday (Jan. 20) the Coker College men's track and field team traveled to Winston-Salem, N.C. to take on the Wake Forest Open. Brandon Mullins pushed the pace for Coker in the 800-meter race and pulled away with a new program record. 

In the men's 800-meter, Brandon Mullins crossed the line in 1:56.38 to bring home another school record, beating his previous time of 1:58.85.

Tony McElveen Jr. competed in the 60-meter dash and finished seventh in the preliminary race with at time of 6.96 seconds. In the finals, McElveen Jr. placed eighth in 7.06 seconds.

Kace Faulkner put his skills to the test in the shotput, tossing a length of 36' 11.75", putting himself third all-time in Coker history.

Jacob Chebii took on the 3000-meter race, finishing in the time of 9:24.54, setting a new program record. Chebii also ran the one mile in 4:49.50.

In the 200-meter event, Sage Lilly brought home a 13th place finish in 23.06, which ties the fifth-best time in Coker's program.

Lastly, the Cobras raced the 4x400 relay. Mullins Lilly, Mahari Green, and Joshua Paul brought in a ninth place finish in the time of 3:30.50.

Coker's men's track and field team will next compete on Sunday, Jan. 28 at the JDL College Dual Meet Madness in Winston-Salem, N.C. beginning at 10 a.m.
