Coker Selected Sixth in SAC Outdoor Poll

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's track and field team was picked sixth in the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Men's Outdoor Track and Field Poll, the league office announced today.

The Cobras received 36 points in the poll, with Queens claiming the top spot with 72 points and eight first-place votes.

Tony McElveen Jr., Brandon Mullins and Marcus Bryant were all named to the SAC Watch List.

Through four events during the outdoor season, McElveen Jr. has six top-ten finishes, highlighted by a runner-up and third-place showing at the LRU Southside Power & Fitness Invitational. He finished third in the 100-meter dash, tying the school-record time of 10.88. His second-place finish came in the 200-meter dash, where he ran a time of 22.53 seconds.

Mullins has three top-five finishes through three events during the outdoor season. His best finish was a runner-up showing in the 800-meter dash at the Trojan Challenge.

Bryant, who has competed in the long, triple and high jump so far this season, has three top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish in the high jump at the Braves Track Classic. Bryant ranks in the top-five in the SAC in all three events.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday and Saturday (Mar. 24-25) for the Weems Baskin Relays.
