Cobras Post Strong Showing at Winston-Salem Invitational

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Coker College men's track and field team recorded 17 top-10 finishes at the Winston-Salem Invitational on Sunday (Jan. 24). 

In the men's 60 meters, Malik Tarbell finished in fifth place after running a 7.20.

In the 200 meters, Tarbell struck again, coming in third place with a time of 23.29. Joshua Dacres was step for step with Tarbell, finishing fourth with a time of 23.30, while Jarrell Mumford placed ninth after posting a time of 24.09.

In the 400 meters, two Cobras landed top-10 finishes, led by Ryan Archibold. He came in fourth, posting a time of 52.25. Dacres collected another top-10 finish, running a time of 52.85 and coming in eighth place.

Two members of the Navy and Gold had top-10 showings in the 800 meters. James Gregory registered a fourth place finish after running a time of 2:02.65, while Razzel Kiplaget ran a time of 2:04.66 and coming in eighth place.

Five runners came in the top-10 in the mile run, headlined by the third place showing of Jacob Chebii. Chebii ran all 5,280 feet in a time of 4:49.50. Luke Elliot came in seventh with a time of 5:04.20, Kiplaget came in eighth after a time of 5:06.01, Adam White recorded a ninth place showing with a time of 5:20.50 and Joe Altieri rounded out the bunch with a tenth place finish and a time of 5:21.53.

In the 60-meter hurdles, Derrian Moreau came in second place with a time 8.72.

In the 4x 400 relay, the team of Tarbell, Archibold, Mumfod and Gregory came in second with a team time of 3:32.69.

Brandon Campbell and Jordan Reese each recorded a top-10 in the shot put. Campbell came in sixth after posting a distance of 10.46 meters, while Jordan Reese came in seventh with a distance of 8.79 meters.

The Cobras will be back in action on Friday and Saturday (Jan. 29-30) when they travel to the Camel City Elite in Winston-Salem, N.C.
