Bates and Chebii Lead the Cobras at the Wingate Invitational

MONROE, N.C. – The Coker men's track & field team placed in the top three in twelve events at Friday 's (Apr. 3) Wingate Invitational meet.

Dylan Bates and Jacob Chebii led the way with for the Cobras. Bates took home the 3000-meter steeplechase championship with a time of 10:28, while Chebii took home first place honors in the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:25.67.

Chebii also placed second in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:!6.26.

Brnadon Gambrell also had a tremendous day at the track. He placed second in the long jump with a distance of 6.38 meters. He then came in third in both the 400-meter hurdles and the 200-meter dash. 

The Cobras took home second and third place in the 800-meter run. Evan Alcorn took home second place with a time of 2:04.30 and Noah Cook placed third with a time of 2:04.52.

Rounding out the individual Cobras that placed was Naim Fareed with a third place finish in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Cobra relay teams won first and second place in their respective races. The 4x100-meter relay team placed first with a time of 48.92 and the 4x400-meter team came in second with a time of 3:35.59.

Coker will be back in action at the South Atlantic Conference Championship April 17-18 in Hickory, N.C.
