Gambrell Leads Cobras in Inaugural Men's Track & Field Meet

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Coker men's track and field team opened its inaugural season on Saturday (Jan. 17) at the UNC Open.

Brandon Gambrell led the Cobras in their very first meet by placing second in the high jump, jumping a height of 1.95 meters. Gambrell also placed fourth in the long jump with a distance of 6.86 meters.

Also placing for the Cobras were Dylan Bates and Nick Mascardo. The duo placed 14th and 15th in the 3000-meter run with times of 9:36.76 and 9:36.73, respectively. Naim Fareed placed 20th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.63.

Derrian Moreau and Brandon Campbell rounded out the field of Coker placers, finishing 12th and 11th respectively in the shot put with distances of 8.61 meters and 7.78 meters.

The Cobras will return to action on Friday (Jan. 30) when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the Hilton Garden Invitational.
