Cobras Take Game Two In Senior Day Action

Hartsville, SC - After falling in game one of the series, Coker climbs back and wins game two to split the series with the Indians of Catawba on senior day.

Game 1: 8-10 Loss

Catawba took the lead in this one early with an RBI single in the top of the first to go up 1-0. However, the Cobras responded in a big way, adding five runs in the course of two innings to take the lead 5-1 heading into the third. The run that Coker made had an exclamation point on it as Ariana Fair demolished a solo shot that cleared the left field fence.

The Indians responded with a huge inning of their own, scoring seven runs in the top of the third to take the lead back at 8-5. Coker dug deep to mount a comeback, scoring two runs off a Cameron Jackson two-RBI single that cut it to 8-7. Unfortunately, the Cobras never could reclaim the lead and ultimately fell 10-8 when all was said and done.

Game 2: 12-9 Win (4 Innings Due To Weather)

The game started in a very similar way with the Indians taking a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. However, the run that Coker made in response was much more prevalent this time around. After a scoreless bottom of the first and top of the second, Coker scored a whopping eight runs in the bottom of the second to take an 8-1 lead into the top of the third.

Catawba then started chewing away at the lead. They scored three in the top of the third to make it 8-4, but that was quickly answered as the Cobras scored four in the bottom of that same inning to make it 12-4. Then, Catawba had another big inning, scoring five in the top of the fourth to make this a 12-9 ballgame. After the Cobras were held scoreless in the bottom of the fourth, only one pitch was thrown in the top of the fifth before we entered into a weather delay.

The Cobras honored their seniors today. We here at Coker Athletics would like to thank Cameron Jackson, Hannah Davis, Kelsey Gollie, Kelsi Scott, Caitlyn Wray, Julie Hilliard, and Gracen Chambless for all that they've done for this program and this department. We wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors, wherever life may take you!
