Coker Splits On Road vs. Newberry

The Coker University Softball traveled to face Newberry on the road in a South Atlantic Conference matchup.

Game 1


Coker got off to a strong start in the first inning, scoring two runs thanks to a single by Abbie McCants that brought in Ariana Fair and Kelsi Scott.

Scott, Fair, and McCants led the offensive effort for Coker going a combined 7 for 11 with 5 RBIs.

In The Circle

Maddie Andrews and McCants both saw time on the mound for Coker, with the pair racking up 11 strikeouts on the afternoon.

Game 2

The Coker University softball team secured a 5-3 victory over Newberry College in game two of Wednesday's doubleheader. Coker jumped out to an early lead, scoring three runs in the first inning thanks to key hits from Kelsi Scott, Ariana Fair, and Caitlyn Wray. Fair continued her impressive performance with a double in the second inning to extend Coker's lead.

In The Circle

Pitcher Tibby Hessian put together a solid performance, allowing three runs on six hits over 6.1 innings, while Cheyenne Palmer closed out the game with a scoreless final inning. Offensively, Fair led Coker with a 4-for-4 day at the plate, including two RBIs and two runs scored.

Coker will continue their road trip as they head to Anderson on Saturday, April 13th, for another South Atlantic Conference doubleheader, with game one beginning at 12:00PM.
