Mullen Dominates in Win Over Lynn to Open 2019 CSU Classic

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The Coker College softball team won it's opening game of the 2019 CSU Classic over Lynn University 2-1 on Friday (Mar. 1) night. 

The Cobras surrendered the first run of the game in the first inning but would respond with one of their own in the second. Maria Williamson got the inning started with a walk before Ashley Meckley singled to third base to put runners on first and second with one out in the inning. Hannah Goodman would reach on an error to load the bases before Katelyn Chambers drove in Williamson with an RBI groundout. The Cobras pulled out in front for good in the fourth after Morgan Richardson stole third and advanced home on a throwing error by the catcher. 

Isabelle Mullen was on the money in the cirlce for the Cobras, picking up her sixth win of the season in the process. The freshman went six innings while allowing just a single hit and striking out four batters. Taylor Forehand entered in the seventh and closed out the game for her fifth save of the season, giving her the most saves in all of Division II so far this season.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Mar. 2) in the second day of the 2019 CSU Classic when they take on Barry and Columbus State at 5:00 and 7:00 PM.
