Cobras Take On Anderson to Open 2017 SAC Softball Championship

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The fourth-seeded Coker College softball team will square off against the fifth-seeded Anderson University Trojans on day one (Apr. 27) of the 2017 South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship Tournament. Game time is set for a 5:30 p.m. start at Byerly Park, with live stats and broadcast available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras enter the four-day, double-elimination tournament with a 13-7 record in SAC play, while the Trojans are 12-8 in conference play.

Maria Williamson leads the way for the Navy and Gold on the offensive end. The second team All-SAC selection leads the conference with 14 home runs and ranks second with 54 RBI on the season. Tayler Barcomb is third in the SAC with 19 doubles and her 47 RBI is good enough for eighth.

In the circle, All-SAC selection Taylor Forehand headlines the Coker pitching staff, leading the way with a team-high 12 wins. She ranks inside the top-10 in both wins and ERA.

The Trojans are led by Cailah Niles on the offensive end. She leads the SAC with 55 RBI and 14 home runs.

Game time is set for a 5:30 start at Byerly Park. All-session tickets will be available on Thursday only. Those tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for college students (with ID), youth under 12, seniors (60+) and active or retired military.

Single day tickets are available all four days of the event. Those tickets will be $8 for adults and $4 for college students (with ID), youth under 12, seniors (60+) and active or retired military.
