Cobras and Bears Meet Tuesday For Spot Atop SAC Standings

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team (35-11. 11-3 SAC) will welcome the visiting Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears on Tuesday (Apr. 11) at 2 and 4 p.m. for a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader. Live stats and broadcast will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

With three conference losses entering Tuesday, Coker and Lenoir-Rhyne are tied at the top of the South Atlantic Conference standings.

The Cobras come in on a five-game winning streak and having won 10 of their last 11 at Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field. Tayler Barcomb and Maria Williamson continue to be the offensive catalysts for the Coker offense. Barcomb is tied for second in the SAC with 47 RBI and 17 doubles, while Williamson leads the SAC with 12 home runs and ranks third with 45 RBI. Barcomb ranks in the top-10 in NCAA Division II in doubles and RBI, while Williamson ranks in the top-10 in total bases and home runs.

In the circle, Augusta Jackson, Taylor Forehand and Christine Carver rank three, four, and five in the SAC in ERA. Jackson has a 7-1 record and a 1.31 ERA, Forehand has a 10-1 record with a 1.82 ERA, while Carver has six wins, three saves and a 2.00 ERA. Nikki Linthicum leads the SAC with four saves and Tabitha Allen has six wins, two saves and 1.44 ERA in 34 innings.

Lenoir-Rhyne travels to Hartsville on a seven-game winning streak, a 37-8 overall record and a 9-3 mark in SAC play. The Bears are led by Erin Boone; she is leading NCAA DII with 76 hits and leads the SAC with a .507 batting average.

Opening pitch in game one is set for 2 p.m., with the gates of Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field opening at 1 p.m. Tickets for the game are $5 for adults, $3 for students and free to all Coker faculty, staff and students.
