Coker Softball Ranked Tenth in Down South Softball Regional Rankings

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team (33-11, 9-3 SAC) is ranked No. 10 in the most recent Down South Softball regional rankings, the website announced today.

The regional rankings are determined by regional record, NFCA rankings and Massey Ratings as well as overall play, current win streaks and quality wins. For a full look at the rankings, click here

The Cobras enter the weekend with a 24-9 regional record, highlighted by wins over Limestone, Wingate, Columbus State, Lander and Lincoln Memorial.

Head coach Travis McCall's squad is currently on a three-game winning streak and have won 10 of its last 12 games. On the season, Coker has won 17 of 20 games at the friendly confines of Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field, including winning eight of the last nine in front of the Coker faithful.

On the offensive side, Maria Williamson and Tayler Barcomb continue to lead the way for the Cobras. Williamson ranks fourth in NCAA DII with 104 total bases on the season, fifth with 12 home runs, and 11th with 44 RBI. Barcomb ranks second in DII with 17 doubles on the season and inside the top 10 with 47 RBI.

In the circle, Taylor Forehand's 9-1 record and 1.94 ERA headlines the Coker pitching staff. She has won five of her last six decisions and has not been hit with a loss since February 11.

The Cobras will be back in action on Saturday (Apr. 8) to host Carson-Newman University.
