Coker's Price and Carver Sweep AstroTurf SAC Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College softball players Hannah Price and Christine Carver have been named Astroturf South Atlantic Conference Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week, the League office announced today. 

Price finished the week going 8-for-17 (.470) at the plate, belting two doubles and a grand slam. During the six-game stretch, the junior collected 13 RBIs, 11 of which came in a two-game sweep over St. Andrews. She had three multi-hit games and also scored five runs. On the season, Price ranks second in the SAC with 13 RBIs and inside the top ten in batting average and hits.

Price is the daughter of Angie and Dan Price and is an exercise science major from Surfside Beach, S.C.

Carver, who is now 3-0 on the season, continued her dominance in the circle, allowing just one earned run in two wins. Her first appearance came against Augusta (Feb. 9), where she scattered three hits and one run in six innings, while striking out 10 batters. The freshman backed up that performance by striking out eight batters and allowing just four hits in a four-inning shutout performance against Chowan (Feb. 11). Carver is tied for first in the SAC with three wins, ranks second with a 0.47 ERA and is tied for fourth with 22 strikeouts.

Carver is the daughter of Lisa and Mike Carver. She is a political science major from Waxhaw, N.C.
