Cobras and Tornados Tussle in Saturday SAC Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team will be back at the friendly confines of the Saleeby-Stokes softball field on Saturday (Apr. 16) to take on the visiting Brevard College Tornados in a pair of South Atlantic Conference matchups. Game one is slated for a 1 p.m. start; with game two set to start at 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available for each game via www.cokercobras.com

The Cobras are led offensively by the corner infielders Maria Williamson and Ashley Gallman. Williamson, who is batting .301, leads the Navy and Gold with 32 RBIs and six home runs. Her home run and RBI totals are also tied for seventh in the SAC. Gallman's 11 doubles are tied for a team-high, to go along with a .306 batting average, 22 RBIs and three home runs. Tayler Barcomb has belted four home runs, 11 doubles and is batting .308, while fellow junior Riley Morris is batting .386. Morris's batting average is the fifth-best in the SAC.

In the circle, Taylor Forehand has fanned 63 batters in 106.2 innings, while posting a 3.02 ERA. Augusta Jackson sports a 5-5 overall record with a 3.03 ERA.

The Tornados travel to Hartsville with a 17-29 overall record, a 5-11 SAC record and have won six of their last 10. They are led by Paige Atkison. She is batting .346 with seven home runs and 30 RBIs.

First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Saleeby-Stokes softball field, with gates opening at noon. Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
