Cobras Play Host to Pioneers In Sunday SAC Doubleheader

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College softball team will be back at home on Sunday (Apr. 3) to take on the visiting Tusculum College Pioneers in a pair of South Atlantic Conference matchups. The Cobras will look to continue their solid play in Hartsville, as they sport a 8-7-1 record when playing at the friendly confines of Saleeby-Stokes softball field.

The Navy and Gold are led by the power-hitting quartet of Maria Williamson, Ashley Gallman, Tayler Barcomb and Riley Morris. Williamson is batting .308 with 27 RBIs and four home runs. Gallman is batting .309 with 20 RBIs, 10 doubles and two homeruns. Barcomb is batting .336 with 19 RBIs, 11 doubles, seven stolen bases, two home run and two triples, while fellow junior Morris is batting .382 with 17 RBIs and three home runs.

In the circle, Augusta Jackson's five wins and 2.41 ERA continues to lead the way for the Cobras.

The Pioneers travel to Hartsville with a 15-21 overall record and a 1-7 SAC record. As a team, they lead the SAC with 86 stolen bases, with the first, second and fourth top base-stealers in the conference. At the plate, Robin Stoner leads the way with a.337 batting average, to go along with 24 RBIs.

First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Saleeby-Stokes softball field, with gates opening at noon. Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
