Cobras and Pacers Square Off in Midweek Twinbill

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – A pair of unbeaten teams will take the field on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 18) when the Coker College softball team (7-0-1) plays host to the visiting USC Aiken Pacers in midweek non-conference doubleheader. Game one is set for a 1 p.m. start, with game two slated for a 3 p.m. start. Live stats and broadcast is available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras have been an offensive juggernaut so far this season, plating a conference-high 81 runs through the first eight games. They also lead the SAC in hits (102), RBIs (77) and batting average (.445).

Tayler Barcomb leads the way for the Navy and Gold offensively, driving in a conference-best 16 RBIs to go along with a .552 batting average. She is also tied for second in the conference with two home runs. Maria Williamson has driven in 12 RBIs, while batting .444. Ashley Gallman and Riley Morris both have seven RBIs and are batting .500 or better.

The trio of Tabitha Allen (3-0), Taylor Forehand (2-0) and Augusta Jackson (2-0) all have multiple wins so far this season.

The Pacers travel to Hartsville with a 4-0 record, after picking up two wins over Claflin. Samantha Chubb has a team-high seven hits to go along with a .538 batting average.

First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Saleeby-Stokes Softball Field with gates opening at noon. Game two will begin immediately afterwards. Tickets for the game are available at the gate. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students and all Coker faculty, staff and students get in free.
