2015 SAC Softball Championship Set to Begin Thursday at Byerly Park

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The 2015 South Atlantic Conference Softball Championship tournament is slated to begin on Thursday (Apr. 23) at 10 a.m. and run through Sunday (Apr. 26) at Byerly Park in Hartsville, S.C. The tournament features the top eight seeds in the SAC led by No. 1 seed Carson-Newman University.

Game one will feature the No. 3 seed Catawba College Indians against the No. 6 seed Lenoir-Rhyne University Bears. The Indians finished the regular season with a 14-8 record in league play. The Bears concluded conference play with a 12-10 record. First pitch is set for 10 a.m.

Anderson University comes in as the No. 2 seed and the Trojans will take on the No. 7 seed Lincoln Memorial University Railsplitters in game two at 12:30 p.m. Anderson had a 16-6 SAC record while the Railsplitters  come in with an even 11-11 in conference play.

The top-seeded Eagles of Carson-Newman University will take on the No. 8 seeded Coker College Cobras in game three at 3 p.m. The Eagles wrapped up conference play with a 17-5 record, while the host school Coker finished with a 10-12 in conference record.

Wingate University enters postseason play as the No. 4 seed and they will take on the No. 5 seed Newberry College in the final game of day one at 5:30 p.m. The Bulldogs and Wolves both posted a 13-9 SAC record.

Six games are set to be played on day two of the tournament (Friday, Apr. 24) beginning at 10 a.m.

Saturday (Apr. 25) is day three of the tournament with three games being played beginning at noon.

Sunday (Apr. 26) is the final day with a game being played 1 p.m. as well as a 3:30 p.m. game if necessary.

All games will be played at Byerly Park in Hartsville, S.C. with live stats and broadcast available at www.cokercobras.com.

Tickets for the tournament are $20 for an all-session pass for adults and $10 for an all-session pass for students. Daily tickets are $8 per day for adults and $4 per day for students.
