PEMBROKE, N.C. – The Coker College softball team picked up their second win of the day with a convincing 9-0 victory over the Pfeiffer Falcons. The win gave Coker a clean sweep of day one at the UNC Pembroke Invitational and a 2-0 start to their 2015 season.

The Navy and Yellow were on fire at the plate, compiling 14 hits. Ashlee Ellen, Carley Bailey, Tayler Barcomb and Katelyn Szupello all finished the game with multiple hits. Ellen led the Coker offense going 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs. Bailey also went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a RBI. Barcomb was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Szupello was also 2-for-3 with one run scored. Hannah Price finished the evening with a double and two RBIs while going 1-for-3 at the dish.

Brittany Long (1-0) picked up the victory throwing a complete game, five-hit shutout.

The Cobras will be back on the field on Saturday (Feb. 7) for games three and four of the UNC Pembroke Invitational. Coker will take on Concord at 1 p.m., followed by Pfeiffer once again at 5 p.m. Live stats can be followed at www.cokercobras.com.
