Cobras Take on Queens in Post Season Tournament

BURLINGTON, N.C. – The Coker softball team has clinched the No. 5 seed in the Conference Carolinas post-season tournament, and will be traveling to Springwood Park in Burlington, N.C. to take on the No. 4 seeded Queens University of Charlotte on Friday (Apr. 19).  Live stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com.   

The Cobras closed out their regular season play with a doubleheader split with Carson Newman.  The navy and yellow defeated the Eagles 1-0 in game one, but then surrendered game two by a final score of 3-0. 

Sarah Rountree and Sydney Weatherford continue to lead the Cobras at the plate, with batting averages of .367 and .317 on the year.  Weatherford is currently third in the conference, with 35 RBIs.

Lauren Phillips and Breanna Skipper will most likely take on the pitching responsibilities for the Cobras throughout the tournament.  Phillips is tied for the second most wins in the conference with 12, while Skipper is tied for fourth with 10.

The tournament format is an eight team double elimination, with Coker set to play game one at 10:00 a.m. on Friday.  The winner of game one will advance to play the winner of game three between the No. 1 seed King and the No. 8 seed Pfeiffer at 4:00 p.m.
