Rountree, Weatherford Earn All-Conference Selections

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College softball players Sarah Rountree and Sydney Weatherford were named to the Conference Carolinas all-conference teams today.

Rountree, a senior, made the first team as an outfielder. She led the Cobras in hitting during the regular season with a .367 average. She hit two homers, drove in 14 runs, scored 23 runs and swiped a team-high 13 steals.

Rountree is a physical education and sports studies major with a concentration in sport management. Originally from Plantation, Fla., she is the daughter of Buddy and Becky Rountree.

Weatherford, a junior, was a second-team selection as an outfielder. She hit .317 with six home runs, 35 RBIS, 22 runs and eight steals during the regular season.

Weatherford is from Scranton, S.C. She is the daughter of Joey and Deanna Weatherford.

The Conference Carolinas all-conference teams were determined by vote from each head coach of participating league institutions. Awards were presented at the league banquet.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletic conference made up of 12 teams from North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Coker College, Converse College, Erskine College, King College, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, Mount Olive College, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University and Queens University of Charlotte.
