Cobras To Host Eagles in Home Finale

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Coker softball team will play their final home game of the season on Sunday (Apr. 14), against the Carson Newman Eagles.  Live video broadcast of the game will be available at www.cokercobras.com.

The Cobras are coming off a series split against Erskine on Saturday (Apr. 13), where they defeated the Flying Fleet 2-1 in game one but lost 5-3 in game two.  Coker is currently fifth in Conference Carolinas with a league record of 12-8. 

Sarah Rountree leads the team offensively with a batting average of .372, followed by Sydney Weatherford with .322.  Weathorford is currently third in the conference with 35 RBIs. 

Lauren Phillips will likely get the start in game one against the Eagles, followed by Logan Cox in game two.  Phillips leads the pitching staff with a 12 wins on the year, which is good enough for second most in the league. 

Carson Newman is coming off a two game series sweep of Brevard, to improve their overall record to 29-15.  Offensively, the Eagles are powered by Brittany Hefner who has a team high batting average of .476 on the year.  Kaitie Sims is leading the pitching staff with a record of 18-4, with 50 strikeouts in 135.1 innings of work. 

Game one will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by game two at 2:00 p.m.
