Cobras Surrender Series to Saints

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker softball team lost two games to Limestone College in a double-header series on Saturday (Mar. 16) afternoon.  Coker falls to 15-9 on the year, and 8-4 in league play. 

The Cobras struggled out of the gate in game one giving up three runs in the first inning.  Limestone went on to score two more runs in the fifth, and a final run in the seventh to take control of the first game 6-0.

Lauren Phillips would take the loss after pitching five innings and giving up five runs on six hits.  Phillips drops to a 7-5 record on the year.

The struggles continued into game two for the Cobras, as the Saints took an early 4-0 lead in the top of the second.  Coker would respond with two runs in the bottom of the third courtesy of Clarissa Suttle and Ashley Gallman to make the score a 4-2.  However the scoring attack continued for Limestone, as they proceeded to score two runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take the game 10-2 and put the eight run rule into effect. 

Breanna Skipper (8-2) would be tacked with the loss after giving up six runs on eight hits in four innings pitched.

Coker will look to get back on track this Sunday (Mar. 17), as they travel to face Pfeiffer in a Conference Carolinas double-header.  Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
