Cobras Split Double-Header With Indians.

HARTSVILLE, SC – The Coker Softball team split their double-header series against Catawba College on Monday (Mar. 11).  Coker's overall record now stands at 13-5 on the year. 

Coker surrendered game one by a score of 1-0, but then responded with a 2-0 win thanks to Sydney Weatherford's fourth homerun of the year.  

Both games were determined by early at bats, as Tara Gibbs homered in game one for the Indians, while Weatherford connected for a two run homer in game two.

Lauren Phillips would be tacked with the loss in game one, dropping her record to 5-3 on the year.  Phillips only gave up three hits, while earning eight strikeouts.  

Breanna Skipper would earn the win in game to, and improve to 6-1.  Skipper pitched a complete game only giving up two hits, while mowing down three Indian batters. 

Coker will gear up again on Wednesday (Mar. 13), when they host Mount Olive in a Conference Carolinas double-header.  Game one is scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. start time, followed by the second game at 3:00 p.m.
