HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The second day of play at the Conference Carolinas Softball Tournament was cut short due to rain and will resume play at 10:30 a.m. with the #4 seed Queens and the #5 seed Lees-McRae tied 0-0 entering the top of the fourth.

Earlier in the day the #3 seed and host Coker College was eliminated from play, along with the #6 seed Mount Olive and the #8 seed Pfeiffer. The only remaining undefeated team is the #2 seed Erskine College. The Flying Fleet awaits the winner of the rematch between Queens and Lees-McRae in the championship game scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.

**Coker Eliminated

In an elimination game #3 seed Coker College played #8 seed Pfeiffer University.  Pfeiffer defeated Coker 2-1. 

Coker freshman Gina Easler (Edgefield, SC) went 2-for-3 on the day.  Coker’s lone run was driven in by sophomore Bri Jacobs (Bolton, NC) who went 1-for-2 with a run batted in.  Freshman catcher Stacy Burr (Darlington, SC) scored the Cobras’ only run.  Senior lefty Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, IL) pitched eight innings allowing two unearned runs.  Greenwalt struck out three hitters.

Pfeiffer junior Kirsten Patterson (Anthem, AZ) went 3-for-4 with a run scored and a run batted in.  Patterson also pitched eight innings, allowing one run on six hits, and struck out six hitters.  Junior catcher Mikaela Strickland (Bonifay, FL) went 2-for-3 with a run batted in.

Coker is eliminated from the tournament.  Pfeiffer University will advance to play the #5 seed Lees-McRae at 11 am Saturday.

**Mount Olive Eliminated

In an elimination game #6 seed Mount Olive played #5 seed Lees-McRae.  Lees-McRae defeated Mount Olive 4-3, on a walk-off home run.

Mount Olive totaled five hits on the day.  Five different Trojans had a hit.  Junior Alyssa Bradshaw (Goldsboro, NC) went 1-for-1 with a run batted in,  as did freshman Kalie Smith (Roanoke Rapids, NC).  Junior right hander Sarah Saunders (Suffolk, VA) pitched 6.1 innings, striking out six.  She surrendered four runs on eight hits.

Lees-McRae was led offensively by senior catcher Paige Coleman (Thomasville, NC) who went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run to grab the walk-off win for the Bobcats.  Lees-McRae was shutout for the first six innings before freshman Karli Robb (Hayes, VA) knocked in her only RBI for the game.  Sophomore righty Laurel Gregg (Mars Hill, NC) pitched seven innings allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out four. 

Mount Olive was eliminated from further play in the tournament.  Lees-McRae will play the #8 seed Pfeiffer at 11 am Saturday.

In an elimination game #5 seed Lees-McRae and #8 seed Pfeiffer University.  Lees-McRae defeated Pfeiffer 4-2 in a pitching duel. 

Lees-McRae senior Meagan Knowles (West Palm Beach, FL) went 2-for-3 while scoring two runs.  Senior right-hander Magen West (Whitney, TX) went seven innings, allowing five hits, two runs, and striking out three. 

Pfeiffer senior third baseman Sarah Waylock (Cary, IL) went 1-for-3 with an RBI.   Junior Melanie Conklin (Wellinton, OH) went five innings, surrendering four runs, on five hits, and punching out six hitters.

Pfeiffer was eliminated from the tournament.  Lees-McRae will play #4 seed Queens University at 1:25 pm to determine who will play #2 seed Erskine in the championship game Sunday at noon.

#4 Queens- 0

In a non-elimination game #2 seed Erskine played #4 seed Queens.  Erskine defeated Queens 6-0.

Erskine put five runs on the scoreboard to break the stalemate in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Sophomore right hander Kelsey Spurrier (Charlotte, NC) pitched seven innings, shutting out the Queens offense.  Senior second baseman Lindsey LaPrad (Summerville, SC) went 2-for-3, scoring two runs, and driving in a run also.  Spurrier struck out eight hitters and only allowed four hits all game. 

Queens senior right hander Brandy Jester (Georgetown, DE) got the start and surrendered six runs on nine hits, while striking out four.  Four different Queens’ hitters had hits.

Erskine will play the winner of #5 seed Lees-McRae and #4 seed Queens.  Queens vs. Lees-McRae is scheduled for 1:15 pm Saturday pending weather.  The championship game is scheduled for Sunday at noon.  If need be there will be a second game at 2 pm.
