HIGH POINT, N.C. -  Coker College’s Sydney Greenwalt has been selected as the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week during week number ten in the 2011 season. This is the second week in a row that Greenwalt has received this honor.

Greenwalt had another outstanding week on the mound for the Cobras going a perfect 3-0 without allowing a single earned run. Her stellar pitching is one of the main reasons the Cobras have won their last nine in a row. Greenwalt had two big victories this week both against Mount Olive. In their first game, she threw a complete game shutout allowing just three hits with five strikeouts. Then in game two she came on in relief and threw four innings of lights out softball to lead Coker to a 9-7 nine inning victory.

For the week Greenwalt went 16 innings without allowing an earned run, while giving up only eight hits with 10 strikeouts. Sydney has allowed just three earned runs in her last 12 appearances on the mound for the Cobras. This is the second week this year Greenwalt has received this award, repeating the honor from last week. Coker currently stands at 21-19 overall and 9-7 in the conference.
