BANNER ELK, N.C. – The Coker softball team completed their four-game Conference Carolinas weekend by taking down the Bobcats of Lees-McRae in a double dip on Sunday afternoon. The Cobras won game one 2-1 and then won game two 4-2.

GAME ONE

Katie McElveen’s (Hartsville, S.C.) solo shot in the top of sixth inning gave the Cobras the run they needed to secure a 2-1 victory in game one. Coker’s other run came in the first inning when Clarissa Suttle (Piedmont, S.C.) scored on a Bobcat fielding error.

Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.) (7-6) picked up here seventh win of the season allowing just one run on five hits with two strikeouts in seven innings of work.

The Cobras had just two hits in the game, McElveen had her homer, while Jaclin Poole (Clover, S.C.) had a double.

GAME TWO

In game two the Cobras fell behind early as the Bobcats plated a run in each of the first two innings. Coker did not tally their first run until the fifth when Sydney Weatherford (Scranton, S.C.) drove home Poole on an RBI single to left. The Cobras added two more runs in the sixth taking a one run lead thanks to a two-run single by Stacy Burr (Darlington, S.C.) Gina Easler (Edgefield, S.C.) gave Coker an insurance run in the seventh with a solo blast to left field to make it 4-2.

Becky Dillon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) (5-5) got the win in relief going two innings allowing just two hits and no runs, while Greenwalt (1) got her first save of the season with a scoreless and hitless seventh.
