MISENHEIMER, N.C. – Coker College put together a solid day all the way around on Saturday afternoon in a Conference Carolinas softball sweep over Pfeiffer University at Jack Ingram Field. The Lady Cobras scored a 6-1 and 8-0 win to improve to 15-17 overall, 5-5 in league play. The struggling Lady Falcons, who committed seven errors in the two tilts, drop to 14-24, 8-8 with the pair of losses.

Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, IL) would toss a complete game in the opener for Coker allowing one unearned run on three hits with five strikeouts. The lone run given up was in the bottom of the first as a Sarah Waylock (Cary, IL) double brought home Amber Johnson (Spokane, WA) after she advanced to second on a passed ball.

Coker took the lead for good in the top of the third as Jaclin Poole (Clover, SC) plated Stacy Burr (Darlington, SC) and Katie McElveen (Hartsville, SC) with her two-out, two-run double to center. Poole would later score on Gina Easler’s (Edgefield, SC) two-bagger to center.

In the fifth, the Lady Cobras added two more on a Haliegh Rogers (Ward, SC) RBI-triple to right while eventually scoring herself on one of three Pfeiffer errors in game one. Coker added one more insurance run in the top of the seventh on a solo blast to right courtesy of Burr.

Burr and Easler each had a pair of hits for Coker in the win. Greenwalt needed just 81 pitches to secure the complete game win.

In the five-inning nightcap, Jordan Atkinson (Bishopville, SC) would keep the Pfeiffer bats at bay scattering just two hits with a strikeout in her win. Atkinson needed just 32 pitches over five innings to rack up the win. A three-run dinger by Sydney Weatherford (Scranton, SC) put the Lady Cobras on the board with two outs in the second while McElveen later added a RBI-double in the third.

Coker closed out game two with four in the fifth as Sarah Rountree (Plantation, FL) would double to center and later score as McElveen reached via fielding error at short. After Rogers added another two-run double down the left-field line, Poole brought home the decisive eighth run with an infield single to short that plated Rogers.

Coker will be back on the diamond for their second Conference Carolinas double dip of the weekend on Sunday as they travel to Banner Elk, N.C. to take on Lees-McRae College starting at 2:00 pm.
