FLORENCE, S.C. –  The Coker softball team had a rough time in day two of the Francis Marion Softball Tournament at the Freedom Florence Sports Complex as they lost both of their games. The Cobras took a 3-2 loss to Lenoir-Rhyne and a 9-1 loss to Armstrong Atlantic.

In the Lenoir-Rhyne game, Becky Dillon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) suffered the loss on the mound going five innings allowing three runs on six hits with four strikeouts.

Stacy Burr (Darlington, S.C.) was the Cobras leading hitter going 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Katie McElveen (Hartsville, S.C.) and Sarah Rountree (Plantation, Fla.) each had a hit in the game.

In game number two, Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.) took the loss allowing five runs on six hits with five strikeouts in 6.1 innings of work as the Cobras pitcher.

McElveen scored the Cobras lone run thanks to a solo home run in the third inning. She finished the day 2-for-3. Also going 2-for-3 in game two was Burr.

The Cobras will take to the field for the third and final day of the tournament on Sunday. They will take on West Liberty State in a pair of games starting at 9:00 a.m.
