Hartsville, S.C. – Coker snapped their four game losing streak on Tuesday with a pair of Conference Carolinas wins over Erskine College. The Lady Cobras won game one 3-2, while senior Shelly Catlett led Coker to a 10-2 win in her final home game of her career. The wins improve Coker to 16-17 overall, and 8-10 in the conference, while Erskine falls to 18-16 overall, and 5-5 in the conference.

Game One
Haleigh Rogers (Ward, SC) hit a two run pinch hit double in the bottom of the fourth inning to put Coker up 3-2 and eventually lead to the win. The Lady Cobras got off to a shaky start as starter Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, IL) gave up two runs in the first inning, but then settled into a grove and shut down the Flying Fleet.

Greenwalt (4-4) earned the win scattering six hits, allowing two runs in 5.1 innings with nine strikeouts, while Shelly Catlett (Orangeburg, SC) (1) earned her first save of the year, going 1.2 innings, allowing no runs and no hits with four strikeouts.

Erskine’s Lauren Gunter (9-7) took the loss, allowing three runs on six hits in six innings of work with five strikeouts.

Leading Coker at the plate was Rogers going 1-for-1 with a double and two RBIs, while Whitney Wallett (Shermans Dale, PA) was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Allie Bragg (Cassett, SC) was also 2-for-3 with a double.

For Erskine,  Katee Knapp was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two RBIs, while Kelly Davis, Kayla Vinson, Courtney Davis and Jocelyn Smith each had a hit for the Fleet.

Game Two
Coker came out guns blazing in game two, as the Lady Cobras jumped out to an early 7-1 lead after the first two innings. Erskine plated their second run of the game in the third, but that would be all Catlett would allow. A run in the fourth and two in the fifth gave Coker an eight run lead and the win 10-2 in five innings.

Catlett (12-9) earned the win, tossing five innings, allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts, while Rebekah George (6-5) took the loss for the Fleet, allowing three runs on two hits in a third of an inning.

Miranda Klees (Murrells Inlet, SC) was a perfect 4-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and three runs scored to pace the Lady Cobras, while Brittany Owens (Johnsonville, SC) and Bragg were each 3-for-3 with an RBI. Rogers finished the game 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Wallett was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

For Erskine in game two, Davis was 3-for-3 with a double and two runs scored, while Lindsey LaPrad  was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Courtney Davis was also 1-for-2 with a double.

Coker will return to action in a week when they travel to Barton to play a make-up series on Wednesday, April 15 .
