GAFFNEY, S.C.— The Limestone College softball team swept its doubleheader against Coker College on Monday afternoon at Lady Saints Field. The Saints, whose win streak now stands at 14 games, improve to 24-23 overall and 9-3 in the conference after today’s Conference Carolinas victories. The Cobras stand at 14-17 overall and 6-10 in the league. Limestone won game one 9-1, and took the second contest 3-0.

 
Game 1 (LC 9, CC 1)
Game one got off to a slow start as only one run was scored in the first three innings. Coker’s Becky Dillon (West Palm Beach, Fla.) hit a home run in the third for a brief 1-0 lead. Limestone’s bats came alive in the bottom of the fourth as the Saints scored three runs. Limestone added two more runs in the fifth and four more in the sixth inning.
 
Emily Wallace (Winchester, Ky./6-12) got the win after she pitched four innings and only gave up one run on three hits. She posted one strike out and a walk. Madison Carpenter (Anderson, S.C.) pitched the final two innings for Limestone and recorded two strikeouts.
 
Shelly Catlett (Orangeburg, S.C.) got the loss for Coker. She pitched 5 2/3 innings and gave up 9 runs (5 earned) on 10 hits. She struck out three batters.
 
The Cobras’ Haleigh Rogers (Ward, S.C.) and Allie Brigg (Cassett, S.C.) each hit a double.
 
The Saints’ Christina Woolgar (Orangevale, Calif.) hit 3-4 with a double, 3 RBIs, and 2 runs scored. Jordan Goodman (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada) batted 2-3 with an RBI and 1 run scored. Kelsey Kuykendall (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) hit 2-4 with 1 RBI and 1 run scored.
 
Game 2 (LC 3, CC 0)
Limestone tallied its first run of the second contest in the opening inning. Goodman hit a two-out single with runners on second and third to score Woolgar. The Saints added two more runs in the fourth. Jordan Smith (Goose Creek, S.C.) hit a triple and then scored on Ashley Dorr’s (Chesapeake, Md.) sacrifice bunt. Mallory Kuykendall (Seneca Falls, N.Y.) singled, later stole second, and scored as Alex Aburto (Frederick, Md.) hit a triple.
 
Kristy Witten (Sykesville, Md.) recorded her 11th win of the season (11-8 overall) as she pitched the complete game. She scattered 6 hits, struck out 10, and walked 2.
 
Sydney Greenwalt (Edwardsville, Ill.) took the loss for Coker. She pitched six innings and allowed three earned runs on eight hits. She walked one and struck out one.
 
Limestone was scheduled to play Lees-McRae tomorrow in Banner Elk, N.C., but the doubleheader has been postponed due to weather. The Saints will travel to play the Bobcats on Tuesday, April 14 at 2 p.m. Limestone hosts Anderson University on Thursday at 2 p.m.
 
The Cobras host Erskine College on April 7 at 3 p.m. in Hartsville, S.C.
