Florence, S.C. – The Coker Softball team fell to the USC-Aiken Pacers3-1 in the first game of the final day of the 2009 Patriot Invitational on Sunday afternoon.  Coker and Aiken were scoreless through the first three innings, until Aiken plated their first run in the fourth. Coker answered with a run in the sixth to even things at one, but a pair of runs in the bottom half of the sixth gave the Pacers the win.

Shelly Catlett (Orangeburg, SC) took the loss for Coker, allowing three runs on seven hits with nine strike outs, while Toni Flessate got the win for the Pacers, tossing a complete game, allowing just one run on five hits with nine strikeouts.

Ashley Coleman (Charleston, SC) drove in the Lady Cobras lone run with a single, while Haleigh Rogers (Ward, SC) had a double and Brittany Owens was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

For Aiken, Candice Hardee drove in both Pacer runs with two hits, while Jessica Strickland scored both runs, with a pair of hits, including a double. Jennifer Day drove in Aiken’s third run, while going 1-for-3.

Coker will play their final game of the Patriot Invitational at 1:00 p.m. against the UNC-Pembroke Braves.
