Columbus, GA -  Cassie Cooper scored Brittany Leverett with a two-out game-winning single to right center in the bottom of the ninth inning to lift #1 CSU past #8 Coker 2-1 in extra innings in the fourth and final game of day one of the 2007 Division II Softball South Atlantic Regional held at South Commons Stadium.  CSU's Tamela Bell sent the game to extra innings with her own two-out heroics in the bottom of the seventh inning.  With pinch-runner Christie Thompson at second base, Bell was down to her last strike, but sent the next pitch into the left field to plate Thompson for the tying run.  With the win, CSU stretched its winning streak to 36 straight games.

CSU starter Amber Browning and Coker starter Shelly Catlett were locked in a pitcher's battle all night.  In the Coker fifth, however, three straight singles with one out loaded the bases for shortstop Ashton Williamson. Williamson would provide the only run for Coker with a fly ball to deep enough center for a sac-fly RBI to give Coker a 1-0 lead.

CSU (51-2) had a couple of chances in regulation to score runs.  In the fourth, Danielle Aszman singled to left and Allison Paul beat out an bunt to put runners at first and second with one out.  Ginny Walsh then lined out for the second out and Amber Lanier popped out to center field to end scoring threat.

Aszman got her second of three hits on the game with a two-out double in the sixth inning, but was stranded again as Paul grounded out to end the inning.

Browning (25-0) was masterful for CSU as she allowed only five hits, one run, and fanned 13 Cobras.  Shelly Catlett was the tough-luck loser for Coker.  She went 8 2/3 innings, allowed seven hits, two runs, a walk, and struck out two.

Danielle Aszman had three of the seven CSU hits.  Katie McCauley went

2-for-4 for Coker.

CSU will face USC Upstate in a winner's bracket game tomorrow evening at 7 PM.  Coker (38-11) will face Carson-Newman in an elimination game beginning at 4:30 PM at South Commons Stadium.
