Hartsville, SC- The Coker College Softball Team will travel to Columbus, GA, for the 2007 South Atlantic Regional Tournament May 10-14, as announced today. The Cobras are the #8 seed and will face the #1 seed and host, Columbus State in their first game of the tournament on Thursday, May 10. Columbus State enters the regional with a record of 48-2, while being ranked #1 in the nation. Coke enters the contest with a 38-10 overall record, along with being the 2007 Co-Regular Season CVAC Champions and the 2007 CVAC Tournament Champions.

 

This marks the Cobras third trip to the regional tournament in the last four years, with their last appearance coming in 2005 when they lost 12-0 to Kennesaw State. This year’s regional is a double elimination tournament, should the Cobras lose they will face either #4 seed Carson-Newman or #5 seed USC- Upstate. Should the Cobras win they will face the winner of the Carson-Newman USC-Upstate game. Also participating in the South Atlantic Regional are #2 seed Lenoir- Rhyne, #3 seed Augusta State, #6 seed Armstrong Atlantic and # 7 seed Georgia College and State University.
