Hartsville, SC- The Cobra Softball Team squeaked out a pair of wins against the Flying Fleet of Erskine College on Tuesday afternoon in collegiate softball. Coker won game one 5-3 and then won game two 2-1 thanks to a pair of Erskine mistakes in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the wins Coker moves to 31-9 overall, and 14-4 in the CVAC, while Erskine falls to 14-16-4 overall, and 3-9 in the CVAC.

 

Game one saw Coker score five runs in the first two innings and then hold the Fleet through the next five innings to take the win.

 

Somer Bigham (20-7) earned her 20th win of the season, allowing three runs on six hits with two strike outs in five innings of work.

 

Lauren Gunter took the loss allowing five runs on nine hits with two strike outs.

 

Allie Bragg, Jessica Blackwell and Ashton Williamson each had two hits, while Blackwell and Bragg each had an RBI. Eunice Nettles was 1-for-3 with two RBIs.

 

Rebekah George was a perfect 2-for-2 with an RBI, while Rebecca Clontz and Hannah Webb each collected an RBI in the game.

 

In game two, Coker trailed 1-0 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, but thanks to a pair of Erskine miscues, the Cobras were able to come out with a 2-1 victory.

 

Shelly Catlett (11-2) earned the win allowing just one run on four hits, with seven strike outs in seven innings of work.

 

George took the loss allowing two runs on six hits with five strike outs.

 

Blackwell was 3-for-3 with a double and Nettles was 2-for-3 for the Cobras offensively.

 

For Erskine, Katee Knapp was 2-for-3 with a double, and George drove in the Fleet’s only run.

 

Coker returns to the field on Saturday, April 14, at 2:00 p.m.
