Hartsville, SC- The Coker Cobras Softball Team won their fourth and fifth straight games on Saturday afternoon in collegiate softball with a pair of victories over West Liberty State. The Cobras won the first game in five innings 8-0, and then won game two 5-0. With the victories Coker improves to 23-7 on the season.

 

In game one, Somer Bigham (16-6) earned the win, going all five innings, throwing a shutout, allowing just one hit, with four strike outs.

 

Leading the Coker offensive attack, was Eunice Nettles, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a homerun, an RBI and a run scored, while Allie Bragg was 1-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Jessica Blackwell and Jamie Horton were each 2-for-3 in the game, with Blackwell also collecting an RBI.

 

Game two’s winning pitcher was Shelly Catlett (7-1) going seven innings, throwing a shutout allowing just two hits, while striking out nine

 

Bragg led the Cobras at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run two RBIs, and a runs scored. Ashton Williamson was 3-for-4 with a double, and two runs scored, while Blackwell was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI and Jenna Beatty was 1-for-3.

 

Coker returns to the diamond Sunday, as they take on CVAC rival St. Andrews in a double-header starting at 2:00 p.m.
