Cobras Take on Knights in Home Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker College men's volleyball team will host the St. Andrews Knights in their home opener on Tuesday (Jan. 23) night at 7:00 p.m. The Navy and Gold are 3-1 on the season.

The Cobras are coming off of a 3-0 sweep over Queens (N.C.) on Friday (Jan. 19) that saw Stephen Porras lead the team for the second straight match with 18 kills. Gabriel Castro was also consistent in back-to-back matches with 14 kills of his own. Porras heads up the Navy and Gold offensive attack with 58 kills on the season, with Castro just behind with 53. Aleksa Bijelic has earned 146 assists in four games at a 9.13 assist per set ratio. Thus far, Castro has collected eight service aces and Parker Oldham is next with seven. Gary Baker leads the back line digging up 49 balls. James Fulton has eight total blocks on the season, seven of them being assisted. Joao Victor Santos has the most solo blocks with three.

Coming into the match, the Knights have only played one match, losing to Belmont Abbey in three sets. Diego Hernandez leads their offense with 13 kills and Robin Imar has 10.
