Cobras Grind Out Victory Over Emmanuel in Five Sets

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – The Coker College men's volleyball team grinded out a 3-2 (26-24, 21-25, 24-26, 25-20, 15-8) victory over Emmanuel College Saturday (Feb. 18) evening for their fifth straight win.

Notched up at two sets a piece, the Cobras showed their resilience by earning a 15-8 fifth set victory for the match win. The Navy and Gold built an early lead in the final frame of play by tallying five straight points to start the set. Gabriel Castro scored off a kill and a service ace, while Luca Berger laid down a powerful kill during the five-point scoring streak.

Coker kept their lead throughout the set and led 14-8; when Sanjae Holloway notched the final point of the match off of a well placed kill. Joao Victor Santos led the Cobras offensively with a team-high 17 kills. Gabriel Castro contributed significantly on the offensive end as well with 14 kills. Defensively, Gary Baker led the way with 14 digs, while Joao Victor Santos and Devion Whetstone added four total blocks each.

The Cobras will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 21 when they travel to St. Andrews to take on the Knights at 7 p.m.
