Coker Men’s Volleyball Blanks Lions

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker College men's volleyball team picked up a 3-0 win over the visiting Emmanuel College Lions on Saturday afternoon (Mar. 19). 

In the opening set, the Cobras sped out of the gates, opening up a 10-5 lead. However, the Lions clawed their way back in to the match, eventually tying things up at 17-17. Emmanuel continued its wave of momentum, taking a 23-22 lead late in the set, however a 3-0 Coker run to close out the set sealed the 25-23 win in the first set.

The Navy and Gold had little trouble in sets two and three, winning them 25-14 and 25-15 to take the match 3-0.

Joao Victor Santos led the way with 15 kills and six service aces. Artur Cabral finished with 12 kills, while hitting .500. Aleksa Bijelic paced the Cobras offensively, dishing out 30 assists.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 23) when they travel to Wilson, N.C. to take on the Barton College Bulldogs. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
