HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College men's volleyball right-side hitter Joao Victor Santos was named the Off the Block/Springbak, Inc. National Freshman of the Week the website announced today.
Santos got the week started with a 24-kill performance in a 3-2 win against Belmont Abbey. He finished the match with a hitting percentage of .419. Santos proceeded to follow that performance up with a 25-kill showing in a 3-1 win over North Greenville. He also blasted four aces while hitting .383.
On the season, the Brasilia, Brazil native has team-highs in kills with 128 on the season and kills per set with 3.46. His kills per set total is good enough for 25th in all Division I/Division II. Santos is the first player from Coker to earn the honor in the three-year history of the award.
He is a business major and is the son of Nubia Oliveria and Joao Santos.
