Cobras Dismantle Bearcats in Home Opener

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – It was quite the coming out party for freshman Gabriel Castro in the Cobras 3-0 win over Rust College in the 2015-16 home opener. The Belo Horizonte, Brazil native recorded eight service aces, shattering the previous Coker record of 6 service aces, held by fellow Brazilian Artur Cabral

The Cobras picked up the opening win by scores of 25-1, 25-7 and 25-5.

Andrew Washam recorded a team-high nine kills, while the duo of Colton Parsons and Cabral registered four kills. Cabral also had seven service aces on the night. Luke Hansen paced the offense, dishing out 13 assists and picking up six service aces.

The Navy and Gold will be back in action on Friday (Jan. 15) when they travel to Lancaster Bible. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
