Coker Tabs Eric Snyder as Head Men's Volleyball Coach

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – Coker College vice president of athletics and facilities Dr. Lynn Griffin announced today that Eric Snyder has been appointed as head men's volleyball coach.

"I am excited to have Eric join our staff," Griffin said. "His work ethic, passion for volleyball and his knowledge of the game will continue to grow our program and take us to the next level."

Snyder comes to Coker after most recently serving as assistant women's volleyball coach at Kennesaw State University. Prior to that, he served as the assistant coach at Emory University where he helped guide the Eagles to the Final Four and a 34-5 record.

"I am incredibly excited to become a Cobra and help develop and enhance a great tradition of men's volleyball at Coker College," said Snyder.  "I feel very lucky and blessed to be able to join a great group of talented, intelligent and mature young men.  I was impressed with the overall direction and growth of the college and the local Hartsville community. It's a great time to be a Cobra and I look forward to joining a great department and striving toward the next level of academic and athletic success at Coker College."

Before coaching at Emory, he was a head coach for two years at the United States Coast Guard compiling a 44-20 record. He led the Bears to an ECAC Division III New England Championship and a share of the NEWMAC regular season championship with a record of 26-6 overall and an 8-1 record in conference play in 2011.

Snyder was also a head coach at University of Mary in 2009 and Stonehill College during the 2007 and 2008 campaigns. While at Stonehill, he led the Skyhawks to a 21-11 record in 2008. It was the first time that program reached the 20-win mark since 1997. For his efforts, Snyder was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 Award List, an award that honors thirty of the up-and-coming coaches under 30 years of age in volleyball at all levels of the game.

In addition to his women's coaching experience, Snyder is a very accomplished men's coach. He served as the assistant coach at the University of Findlay and at Emmanuel College. While at Emmanuel, Snyder helped guide the nationally ranked Saints to the best record in program history, 28-9, in 2011. He also coached Curtis Abram, the only All-American in Emmanuel history.

Snyder played collegiate volleyball at Southern New Hampshire University where he led the Penmen to the team's first-ever New England Collegiate Volleyball League tournament appearance in 2004. He received a bachelor's degree in sport management/business administration from Southern New Hampshire and holds a master's degree in business administration from Tiffin (Ohio) University.
