Royals Sneak Past Cobras in Five

LAKE WALES, Fla. – The Coker men's volleyball team dropped a 3-2 match to the Warner University Royals on Friday (Apr. 4) in men's collegiate volleyball action.

The Royals would come out strong taking the first set 25-14 over Coker. However, the Navy and Yellow would overcome the slow start and convincingly win sets two and three with identical scores of 25-20.

Warner would rally to even the match at 2-all and force a fifth set after capturing the fourth 25-17. The fifth set would be a slugfest as the Cobras and Royals traded points all the way to an 8-8 tie. Warner would then go on a 7-4 run that would secure a 15-12 set victory and ultimately a 3-2 match win for the Royals.

Heading the offense for Coker was Jared Geizer with a match-high 19 kills and eight digs. Luke Hansen recorded a double-double with 13 kills and 13 digs, while Leshon Alexander finished the match with 11 kills, six digs and four blocks. Ricardo Ferrer dished out 45 assists on the night and Cooper Lyon tied Hansen with a team-high 13 digs to lead Coker defensively.

The Cobras and Royals will square off again tomorrow (Apr. 5) at 12 p.m. in what will be the Navy and Yellow's 2014 season finale.
