Coker Volleyball to Host Tri-Match

HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The Coker men's volleyball team will host a tri-match on Friday (Feb. 22), against Eastern Mennonite University and Rust College.  Live broadcast of all three games will be available at www.cokercobras.com

The Cobras are coming off a dominating 3-0 performance against Washington Adventist.  Luke Hansen continues to lead Coker in kills with a total of 75 on the year.  Jared Geizer and Christopher Gbelay have also been strong offensively with 50 and 45 kills each.  Ricardo Ferrer leads the team with 190 assists, while Cooper Lyon has the high of 41-digs on the year. 

In their first meeting against Rust, the Cobras were defeated in a tight 3-2 match.  The Bearcats took the first set 25-23, but Coker captured sets two and three (25-21, and 25-18).  Rust went on to tie the match after winning the fourth set and then took control with a game winning 15-13 final set.

Eastern Mennonite (8-3) is coming of a 3-1 victory over Rutgers-Newark.  The Royals are led by Chris Moise who has 97-kills on the year, followed by Jesse Reist with 89.

The first game of the tri-match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m., between Coker and Eastern Mennonite.  Eastern Mennonite will then take on Rust College at 3:00 p.m., followed by the final match between Coker and Rust at 5:00 p.m.
