Men's Tennis Falls to Wingate In SAC Quarterfinals

Sumter, SC - The eighth-seeded Cobras fought to the very end in a tough competition against the first-seeded Bulldogs of Wingate, falling by a final scoreline of 4-0.

Starting with doubles, the point was clinched by the Bulldogs after winning on courts one and two. On court three, Andy Huyhn and Joao Casas Moreira were knotted up at 4-4 in a battle that could've gone either way before play was suspended due to the clinch.

In singles, matches were clinched by the Bulldogs in straight sets on courts one, five, and six. Despite the deceiving final score, the match was much closer than meets the eye. On court two, Tom Lamers had taken his first set by a score of 6-3 but then dropped the second set 3-6. Huyhn had also taken a first set victory, winning 6-4 on court four. Unfortunately, these matches did not get the chance to finish as the match was clinched prior to them being completed.

The Cobras will now set their eyes on the 2024-25 season, looking forward to the bright future of Coker Tennis.
