Men's Tennis Drops Season-Opener To #13 Lander

Greenwood, SC - The Cobras had a tough matchup in their first match as they opened the season with the 13th-best team in NCAA D2 in the form of the Lander Bearcats.

Lander quickly took care of the doubles point, winning on all three courts to go up 1-0 in this match. Singles were much of the same, with all six of the Bearcat athletes taking care of business on their respective courts.

Notable Cobra performances come from the first, third, and fourth singles courts, as Tom Lamers (6-4, 2-6, 3-6), Samuel Winter (7-6, 2-6, 8-10 match tiebreak), and Carlos Fernando Nau (0-6, 7-5, 3-6) took their opponents to three sets to put a little pressure on Lander.

Men's tennis will be back in action as they travel on the road Tuesday to play at Augusta, with a first serve time scheduled for 1:00 PM ET.
