Men's Tennis Splits Day One of Florence, S.C. Invitational

FLORENCE, S.C. - The Coker University men's tennis team split the first day of the Florence, S.C. Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 6), ending the day with a 4-3 victory over Francis Marion.

The Cobras dropped their opening match of the day to Mount Olive by a score of 4-1, with Coker's lone victory coming from Sean Keane at No. 4 singles. Keane defeated Israel Rodriguez Rojas 6-3, 6-1 for his first career victory.

Coker was able to take the doubles point against Francis Marion with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, before taking three singles matches for the victory. Isaac MacMillan and Carlos Pinedo picked up a 6-3 win over William Anth-Forsberg and Adam Ernberg at No. 1, while Thibaut Decaluwe defeated David Bodson and Joshua Schaefer 6-4 at No. 3. MacMillan then defeated Schaefer 6-4, 6-3 at No. 3, before Keane posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Ernberg at No. 4. Decaluwe would clinch the match for Coker at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 victory over Bodson for his first career singles victory.

The Cobras (1-1) are back in action tomorrow (Sunday, Feb. 7) to face Bluefield State on day two of the Florence, S.C. Invitational. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m. from the Florence Tennis Center.
