No. 46 Coker Takes On No. 10 Wingate in SAC Play

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The No. 46 Coker College men's tennis team (9-5, 2-1 SAC) will take on the visiting No. 10 Wingate University Bulldogs Tuesday (Mar. 27) afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play. Opening serve is set for 2 p.m.

The Cobras head into tomorrow's match after edging Carson-Newman 5-4 this past Sunday (Mar. 25) on the road. The duo of Mark Watt and Henrik Hellbe picked up a victory at No. 1 doubles. In singles play, Watt, Felix Schweyer, Justus Lehman, and Hellbe earned victories for the Coker win. Hellbe sealed the Coker victory by earning a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 come-from-behind victory to secure the match win.

Heading into tomorrow's match, Watt and Lehman lead the Navy and Gold in singles play. Watt currently holds an impressive 11-3 record at the No. 1 position and Lehman boasts an 11-2 record, collecting seven wins at the No. 5 spot and four wins at No. 6 singles. In addition, Hunter Horton has earned an 8-6 record at No. 2 singles and Schweyer has posted a 7-7 record in No. 3 singles.

In doubles play, Horton and Lehman have recorded a team-best 9-4 record at No. 2 doubles. Schweyer and Allan have posted a 6-3 record at No. 3 doubles, while Hellbe and Watt sport an 8-6 record at the No. 1 slot.

No. 10 Wingate enters tomorrow's contest with an 11-3 overall record and a 4-0 mark in conference play.

As mentioned, opening serve is set for 2 p.m. at the Coker Tennis Courts.
