No. 46 Men’s Tennis Captures SAC Victory Over Eagles

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The No. 46 Coker College men's tennis team (9-5, 2-1 SAC) captured a South Atlantic Conference victory over the Carson-Newman University Eagles 5-4 Sunday (Mar. 25) afternoon. 

Coker earned their first victory of the contest at No. 1 doubles, as the duo of Mark Watt and Henrik Hellbe picked up an 8-5 victory. Watt and Hellbe improved their doubles record to 8-6 with the victory. 

In singles action, Watt grinded out a 7-6, 7-6 victory at the No. 1 slot, while Felix Schweyer picked up a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 3 singles. Watt improved his singles record to 11-4 and Schweyer upgraded his record to 7-7. Next, Justus Lehman recorded a dominant 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5 singles, improving his record to a team-best 11-2. Finally, with the match tied 4-4, Hellbe earned a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 come-from-behind victory to secure the Coker victory. 

The Navy and Gold will be back in action on Tuesday (Mar. 27) when they return home to host the Wingate University Bulldogs at 2 p.m.
