Men’s Tennis Earns 7-2 Victory Over Missouri Valley

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - The Coker College men's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over the Missouri Valley College Vikings in non-conference action Sunday (Mar. 4) afternoon to improve to 6-3 on the season.

The Cobras started the match by sweeping doubles play. The duo of Mark Watt and Henrik Hellbe picked up an 8-6 victory at the No. 1 spot, while the tandem of Hunter Horton and Justus Lehman toughed out a 9-8, 7-3 at the No. 2 spot. Coker wrapped up doubles play with Felix Schweyer and Simon Bergbom tallying an 8-4 win at the No. 3 spot.

In singles action, Watt (No. 1, 6-1, 6-4), Horton (No. 2, 6-2, 6-2), Lehman (No. 5, 7-5, 6-3), and Dominic Allan (No. 6, 7-6, 4-6, 10-3) picked up victories to seal the match win.

Horton and Lehman improved to 7-2 at No. 2 doubles, while Watt upgraded his singles record to 8-1 at the No. 1 spot.

The Cobras will be back in action on Wednesday (Mar. 7) when they take on Tiffin University in Hilton Head Island, S.C.
