Cobras Defeat Falcons 5-1, Coker Set for Title Match Sunday

SUMTER, S.C. – The No. 1 seed Coker Cobras defeated the No. 4 seed Pfeiffer Falcons 5-1 on Saturday (Apr. 20) in the semifinals of the 2013 Conference Carolinas men's tennis tournament. With the win the Cobras advance to the championship match on Sunday (Apr. 21) where they will take on the No. 2 seed Limestone Saints.

The Cobras picked up an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles and an 8-4 at No. 3 doubles to take a 2-1 lead over the Falcons. Then in singles play, Tom Sizeland, William Marrafao and James Corfield secured the necessary victories to give the Cobras the 5-1 win. Sizeland defeated his opponent with a pair of 6-2 matches at No. 2, while Marrafao picked up a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 3. Corfield won in straight sets at No. 4.

Coker will take the court for its first ever conference tournament championship match at 10 a.m. on Sunday at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, S.C. The Cobras defeated the Saints 5-4 during their regular season match back on Mar. 30.
